West Sweeps Waller And Pursues District Championship

THE BEST DUGOUT IN THE NATION

The Mustangs have done it yet again, sweeping Waller with a 5-2 win. With the win last Friday night, the Mustangs are 10-0 in District and sitting pretty in first place with a three game lead.

The defense was lead by Connor Phillips and Robert Revels, who had a combined total of 18 strikeouts (12k’s and 6k’s respectively). The duo only allowed 7 hits in 7 innings, which is not a winning recipe for any opposing team.

Offensively, the Mustangs were pretty solid and pieced many hits back to back. Brody Szako (2), Willie Ibarra, Austin Maddox, and Connor Phillips all had RBI’s. The Mustangs offense has not seen the level of energy as it did early in the season and plan to score at least 20 runs in their next series.

Offense and defense are pretty important for this undefeated baseball team, but not as important as the dugout. Lead by Reid Snook and John Matocha, the dugout transfers unmeasurable amounts of energy (first law of thermodynamics) that keeps the players on their toes and the fans on their feet. Speaking of fans and opposing teams, the last two series, the Mustangs have seen backlash from opposing parents. It seems as though that not only can the opposing players not handle the best dugout in the nation, but the opposing fans cannot handle the best student section in the nation… and losing twice to the Mustangs.

The Mustangs will start their next series at home this Tuesday against A&M Consolidated. Their “Ace” reportedly tops out at a grand total of 79MPH. This is a perfect recipe for the Mustangs to blow out Consolidated and claim the District Champion spot for good with 3 games left. Come out to Mustang Stadium on Tuesday at 7pm.
