“Character and Sportsmanship Go Hand in Hand” as Mustangs Sweep Bulldogs

Magnolia West Senior Players And Fans After Historic Win

Magnolia West defeated Magnolia High School 4-2 in a historic win on Friday night to complete the Week 4 sweep. The Mustangs are now 8-0 in District play and 6 games away from a District Title.

The Bulldogs saw a glimpse of hope after their starting pitcher got the Mustang’s first two batters out in the first inning. The Bulldog’s pitcher then walked the third batter, putting Zach Wall up to bat. Wall took the fourth pitch 200 feet over the left-center fence and put the Mustangs up 2-0 in the first inning.

Seth Hayes led the Mustangs offense by going 3-3 at the plate, hitting 2 home runs. However, Seth felt bad for the Bulldogs and had the runs erased from the official books.

At the top of the fourth inning, J.P. Ellwanger was way too fast for the Bulldog defense and stole home right before Brady Huckfelt laid a squeeze bunt that left the defense clueless allowing Willie Ibarra to score easily. This put the Mustangs ahead 4-0 going into the fifth.

The Bulldogs attempt to tie the score proved futile after they managed to score 2 runs in the fifth inning with zero hits. With that being said, MLB Prospect, Robert Revels pitched a complete-game no-hitter and left the “best hitters in district” kicking dirt.

The still undefeated Mustangs will play Waller on Tuesday (Away) and Friday (Home) night this week. Come out to see a stellar performance by the Mustangs as they leave Waller with two losses after Friday’s game.
